1 Nephi:19 - 2 Nephi:5

This reading concludes with Lehi counseling his posterity on the blessings in store for them if they deal in righteousness. He teaches Jacob that without evil there is no good and without sin there is no righteousness. Laman and Lemuel hear that their wickedness will result in the sins of their children being the responsibility of the parents.

  • Well, in this delightful section of the Book of Mormon, our studly man Nephi makes a record of his people... he talks about the scattering of Israel quite a bit... and of course, our dear friend Lehi dies and leaves a blessing for his children. I thought Chapter 2 was excruciatingly thought provoking because it describes how there has to have opposition in all things. It helps me when I am feeling sad or down because I remember that once it's all over I'll appreciate the happiness that comes more because I know what sadness feels like... if that made sense. I also liked 2 Nephi 4:34, where Nephi is putting his trust in the Lord and not in men. This helps me remember that Heavenly Father knows what's best for me and that I can always trust Him no matter what :)
