I haven't quite finished this section of the reading, but I just started into the Ether and the account of the brother of Jared leading his people from the Tower of Babel (Ether 1 and 2). I thought I would look into the real name of the Brother of Jared. I asked Ben and he said that his real name was revealed to Joseph Smith and that I could probably find the answer in Mormon Doctrine. I looked under Brother of Jared and I was told to then see "Mahonri Moriancumer". I then turned to that section and learned the story of when and how the Prophet Joseph revealed his name. It was quite interesting. It says that the Prophet was passing by the home of Elder Reynolds Cahoon while in Kirtland and was asked to come in to bless and name his son that had been born. During the blessing, he gave him the name of Mahonri Moriancumer. Afterwords, he explained that this name was just revealed to him as the Brother of Jared's real name.
So intriguing, he? I'm not sure I would want such a name... quite long and difficult to pronounce... maybe if that was my real name, I would just go by the "Sister of Aaron". ;)
