1 Nephi:11 - 1 Nephi:18

We learn of the vision which Nephi's received concerning his father's dream. The Tree of Life, the birth of the savior, the destruction of Jerusalem are revealed to Nephi. He later relates this experience to his family with the expected reaction.

We learn of the emergence of a "ball of curious workmanship" at the door of Lehi's tent which will untimatly serve as a measure of their faith and lead them to the promised land.

  • I am now trying to leave posts as I finish the section so I don't have to catch up and do 3 or 4 at once. Nephi and his family continue their journey through the wilderness, and after much toil and tribulation, they finally make it to the Promised Land. I was impressed by the endurance and faith that Nephi showed through out these chapters. Even though his family members (mostly Laman and Lemeul)are falling away and complaining about their afflictions, he remains steadfast and keeps going and trusts in Heavenly Father. It makes me want to stand up for what I believe in more. :D

  • I liked learning about the symbolism in Lehi's dream. In particular, I like the comparison of the mists of darkness to the temptations of the devil. I associate confusion, sadness, and darkness with Satan and his interferences within our lives and those around us. Conversely, I associate clarity, happiness, and a lightened path with Heavenly Father and Jesus and their direction and guidance given to us and our families.

  • My mommy noticed that in 1 Nephi 13:37 it uses the phrase "to publish peace". My mommy and daddy have been working hard this week to teach me about prayer and to establish some good routines in our home in which we pray together as a family morning and night. I am learning that praying makes a peaceful home. I like being at home and I think that is because we have a close family that prays together and loves each other. I will continue to work hard on learning how to pray.
